North Korea’s Nuclear Test

A post concerning North Korea’s latest nuclear test is on my new website for the new book my wife and I wrote. I’ve included the lead-in here and encourage you to read the whole post on that website.

Earlier today, North Korea conducted its fifth and most successful nuclear test, with an estimated yield close to that of the bomb that destroyed Hiroshima. This dangerous and deplorable situation was predictable as noted on page 197 of the book my wife and I just finished, A New Map for Relationships: Creating True Love at Home & Peace on the Planet:

If we continue to engage in regime change around the world and encourage it in North Korea via crippling sanctions, that nation’s leaders will maintain or increase their nuclear arsenal in order to deter such efforts. It’s a matter of self-preservation for them. Regime change probably would result in their being killed.

The book is now available from AmazonBarnes & Noble, and many other booksellers. It has received praise from several knowledgable individuals including former Secretary of Defense William Perry who called it “a truly unique book that tells an engaging and persuasive story relating domestic peace to world peace.” He goes on to recommend that, “This book should be read by married couples seeking peace at home, as well as by diplomats seeking peace in the world.”

About Martin Hellman

I am a professor at Stanford University, best known for my invention of public key cryptography -- the technology that protects the secure part of the Internet, such as electronic banking. But, since 1982, my primary interest has been how fallible human beings can survive possessing nuclear weapons, where even one mistake could be catastrophic. My latest project is a book, co-written with my wife Dorothie, with the audacious subtitle "Creating True Love at Home & Peace on the Planet." It's on Amazon and a free PDF can be downloaded from its website:
